Stay connected!

Even though there is a good chance that you have chosen Costa Rica to be an exceptional adventure destination, we understand that most of you feel the need for personal and/or professional reasons to stay connected throughout your stay.

However, let's be honest, network coverage is not the country's strong point. Therefore, even if we do our best to offer you accommodation with a quality wifi network, it will sometimes be necessary to use your cell phone with a local SIM card to access the 3G network at a lower cost.

At Atípico Costa Rica we are happy to welcome our clients upon their arrival at the international airport where we deliver them an active local SIM card, loaded with 1 Giga of internet and more than 30 minutes of telecommunication.

Here are the procedures for all travelers wishing to have a local SIM card and stay connected for less than 10 US$ for 2 weeks:

  1. Buy a Kölbi prepaid SIM card in any supermarket or pulperia for 1'000 colones (<2 US$)

  2. Activate your SIM card by calling with an active phone line the number on the card packaging with your passport

  3. You will then receive by SMS the phone number associated with your local line

  4. Make in a supermarket or a pulperia a refill of 4'000 colones (<8 US$) by giving them your number

  5. Dial *888# to perform the following actions

  6. Enter « 3 » (Internet Movil) ; enter « 2 » (Paquetes Gigas) ; enter « 1 » (1 GIGA) ; enter « 1 » (Aceptar)

You will then benefit from 1 Giga of internet valid for 2 weeks as well as more than 30 minutes of phone calls within the country!
